H.J. Heinz Recognized Nationally for Commitment to Workplace Health
National Business Group on Health names PBGH Employer Member "2009 Best Employer for Healthy LIfestyles"

PITTSBURGH, July 1, 2009 – The Pittsburgh Business Group on Health congratulates H.J. Heinz Company, a PBGH Employer Member, for being recognized by the National Business Group on Health (NBGH) as a silver "2009 Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles." Heinz was chosen for its exceptional commitment to a healthy workplace and for helping its employees and families make better choices about their own health and well-being. Silver award winners are recognized for launching programs or services to promote living a healthier lifestyle.

H.J. Heinz Company is one of 63 award-winning large national employers to be recognized. The 2009 class of award-winners is the largest ever, with companies demonstrating an unprecedented breadth and depth of programs to support employee health and wellness.

H.J. Heinz Company has promoted employee wellness in many ways, including making flu shots available on site and providing free on site biometric health screenings to all employees. Employees are provided access to a health coach when specific health issues and risks are identified. In addition, Heinz regularly distributes health and wellness-focused materials to employees, including convenient pocket cards that highlight key employee benefits and exclusive health and wellness programs.

Similar services as offered by Heinz to its employees are also available to PBGH employer members to provide to their employees.  Through preferred arrangements, PBGH employer members can offer flu vaccine programs, health risk appraisals and biometric screening assessments.
